5th Avenue Landmark

My goal with this interior in an historic building was to enhance and compliment the beautiful paneling and sculptural architectural detailing that was already in place.

The furnishings worked to soften the rooms.

The furnishings worked to soften the rooms and make them feel livable. The blue sofa is a Biedermeier piece that I decided to upholster to the floor, covering up the carved wooden legs, as there was already enough wood in the room. The windows are covered in yards of silk taffeta with multiple layers of trim and tassels.

The bedroom is a soothing space and features upholstered walls along with 1950’s side tables; the painting above the bed is by English artist Michelle Charles.
