Designer Show House

This sitting room is from a show house in Rumson, New Jersey. I wanted to demonstrate how lovely the various plaids and patterns could look when you mix them all together.

I kept on layering geometric pattern over geometric pattern to create the look. The ceiling is comprised of precisely cut wallpaper squares, which I kept rotating to create the pattern.  The chandelier is by Lutyens, the classic English furniture company.

Details reveal themselves only after the second or third view

I love creating a really layered design with details that reveal themselves only after the second or third view. The fire screens are hand-embroidered velvet with raffia; the table on the left is designed with sculptured griffins in patinated bronze with gold leaf.

The 19th century French gueridon holding the white marble bust is from H.M. Luther.
